Promoting education and research on energy efficient lighting and renewable energy for sustainable development

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (SECE) of the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT), of the Addis Ababa University, is running a collaborative project with title “Promoting education and research on energy efficient lighting and renewable energy for sustainable development” abbreviated as EARLI. This consortium project is coordinated by Aalto University, Finland, while University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique, as partner members.
EARLI, in general, aims at raising awareness and identify needs and opportunities in energy efficient lighting systems. Specifically, it tries to develop energy efficient lighting courses and research infrastructure; enhance and upgrading skills of local teaching staffs; and create cooperation with industry and society to promote energy efficient lighting and renewable energy use.
One work package of the project is preparation of course material , testing and collecting feedback from stakeholders from energy-related regulator, utilities, vocational training institutes, governmental & non-governmental organizations and practicing engineers
