- 15 PhD students were sent to attend their education at Universities in Korea (Korean University, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Sungkyunkwan University etc) and the project will continue sending 15 AAiT Academic staffs every year

- Facilitated for three AAiT PhD students research stay in Mechanical Engineering Department
- Planned to sandwich-based PhD programs with School of Engineering and Applied Sciences where candidates admitted and granted degree from AAiT/AAU
Dream Kids Project KAIST (undergraduate)
- Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology Invited AAiT to send for international UG scholarship program
- AAiT pre-engineering students are sent to Korean AdvancedInstitute of Science and Technology and all joined September 2014
- These UG students will study in the program for BS, MS and PhD if they do well and they will surely be future Ethiopian and global leaders in Engineering

- Discussed with Institute ‘s management on potential of joint research, staff and student exchange
- AAiT will visit University of Michigan to concretize the discussions with comprehensive agreement of cooperation
In-Country/In-Region postgraduate Scholarship Program at Addis Ababa institute of Technology, Ethiopia Railway Engineering Scholarship Announcement 2015/2016
Objectives of the program
DAAD,as a publicly funded, self-governing organization of the institutions of higher education in Germany, promotes international educational co-operation with developing countries through a variety of funding and scholarship programs.
In-Country/In-Region postgraduate Scholarship Program at Addis Ababa institute of Technology aims at the development of academically trained Railway specialists who couldcontributetowards capacity building of East-Africa.This scholarship Programis funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and seeks to strengthen and expand DAAD’s regional network of high-quality academic partners offering development-related Master and/or PhD studies which are geared towards capacity building and strengthening of teaching and research staff.
DAAD is offering scholarships to citizens in EastAfrican countries to pursue Master’s studies in Railway Electrical Engineering at Addis Ababa institute of Technology for the academic year 2015 / 2016.
Eligible Applicants
Applicants have to:-

Have completed their last degree less than six years ago at the time of application
-
Be Citizens of East African countries
-
Have Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degree qualification with at least above average results
In addition, the applicant must fulfill the following to be considered for admission:

The applicant must have a B.Sc. degree in Electrical, Electronic, computer, communication, control, power, instrumentation engineering / computer science or related fields from an accredited institution with above average results.
NOTE: The last academic degree should not be older than six years.

The applicant must pass an entrance examination administered by the Railway Engineering Center.

The applicant must have a language proficiency certificate indicating his/her ability to complete a study conducted in English (TOEFEL or IELTS)

The applicant should write a personal statement/motivation letter describing the candidate`s interest to join the program.

The scholar should have two letters of recommendations of advisors/ supervisors from previous educational institutions.
Female candidates and candidates from less privileged regions or groups as well as candidates with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
Eligible Fields
Applications may come from engineering subject areas with strong relevance in Electrical Engineering including Electronic, computer, communication, control, power,and instrumentation engineering, computer science or related fields.
Place of Tenure
The scholarships are tenable at the Addis Ababa institute of Technology.
Duration and commencement
Scholarships are available for up to a maximum of two years (Master).The scholarship will be initially granted for one year and may be extended upon individual request and receipt of a complete application by using the provided form. The application for renewal has to be submitted at least one month before the scholarship period expires.
Application Procedure
The application papers must be submitted in an envelope mailed to the Railway Engineering Center mail or the applicants could submit the softcopy to email address9birhanu.beshah@aait.edu.et or birhanuher@gmail.com. Do not staple the papers. Only complete applications from applicants who meet all requirements will be accepted. The application will only be complete if the following documents are submitted together with the proper and accurate filled in and signed application form:
